It is really true that age brings a certain amount of wisdom. I'm sure it partially comes from just living life. Whether we choose the right course of action, or make mistakes, we learn in the process. That process of learning brings wisdom as to how to respond the next time. Outcomes also can be an indication to us of what we did well and what we could have done differently.

Wisdom also can come to the young Godly woman who earnestly asks God for it. James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. The "men" there is generic. It means "mankind". So, you, my dear young woman, can obtain wisdom by asking for it.

Some of the things I will share with you in the next couple of months come from doing things right. It worked and I want you to know. Some of the things I did not do well and have learned from them. In other words, I know better now, would do some things differently and want to help you get it right.

No one gets it right all the time. We are beautiful and intelligent creations of Almighty God, our heavenly Father. But, we have been devastated by sin. It infiltrates our very being, even when, sometimes we are unaware and think we are right in how we are handling things. This is why it is so important to be in prayer and read the Bible faithfully. Prov. 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence.

Part of motherhood is knowing how to rear children, tweens, and teens to make good choices, to have good morals, to be ethical and inwardly strong. When I was a young mother, we were taught to do this, but no one told us how. We basically did what our parents did. I thank the Lord that I had wonderful parents. But, still, I had a lot to learn and what about the young woman who had a poor role model or none at all?

Peer pressure has such a hold on your children. Sometimes, that "hold" is good if they have good Christ-loving friends, but some times, devastating, due to their friends not seeking God or His will. So, how does one develop in her children an inner strength to do what is right in spite of what "desires" come their way or what "friends may think"?

This month I encourage you to seek God. Talk to Him regularly and seek Him for the wisdom that you need.

Next month we will look at some practical ways we can, as Moms, teach our children to make good choices. Grandmoms can help in this process also. As always, I look for your ideas and comments. So, I'll see you then!
